Elements and Performance Criteria
- Prepare site to be mown
- Confirm site to be mown and identify potential hazards and risks including obstacles and fixtures
- Implement safe working practices to manage risks including removal and replacement obstacles before and after mowing
- Report abnormal conditions or changes in the appearance of the site and existing grass surface
- Prepare equipment for mowing
- Select appropriate tools, equipment and machinery for site to be mown
- Calibrate lawnmower and adjust to height according to manufacturer guidelines
- Complete pre-operational checks of tools, equipment and machinery
- Select and maintain personal protective equipment according to workplace safety requirements
- Fit and use personal protective equipment according to job requirements
- Erect safety warning notices during work periods
- Mow site surface
- Assess grass appearance and changes during mowing operations in line with requirements for the site
- Match implements to the lawnmower according to manufacturers' specifications
- Maintain continuous oversight of mowing activities including monitoring of hazards and risks
- Identify environmental impacts associated with operation of equipment and minimise where possible
- Complete mowing and check lawnmower operation
- Conduct shut down procedures in line with workplace practices
- Perform routine operational servicing and minor maintenance
- Identify and report malfunctions, faults, irregular performance or damage in required format
- Clean and store lawnmower and associated equipment in the required location
- Maintain lawnmower use records in required format
